Summer Skincare: the Essential Guide to Healthy Skin

Summer brings long days, lots of sun, trips to the beach, and outdoor activities. But it also means more exposure to external aggressors like UV rays, intense heat, pollution, and dehydration. To keep your skin beautiful, protected, and healthy during this season, it’s essential to adapt your skincare routine. In this article, we’ve gathered simple and effective tips to protect your skin during the hottest months of the year.

1. Sunscreen: the step you can’t skip

Sunscreen is your number one ally in the summer. It should be applied every day, even when the sky is cloudy. Choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, broad spectrum (UVA and UVB), and reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming or sweating.

2. Enhanced hydration, inside and out

With the heat, skin loses more water, making it more prone to dehydration, flakiness, and sensitivity. Use a lightweight moisturizer with humectant ingredients.

In cosmetics, humectant ingredients are substances that draw water to the upper layer of the skin, helping to keep it hydrated, smooth, and supple, like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, or glycerin. And of course, drink plenty of water throughout the day.

3. Gentle yet effective cleansing
