The CEO Diary: SAZOREA – when longing becomes a brand

Today I begin this new chapter of our Notebook with a very special share: the origin of the name Sazorea and what it represents in my life and in the story of the brand.

When I started envisioning my natural skincare brand, I wanted the name to carry the strength, soul, and authenticity of the Azores — my homeland and a constant source of inspiration. The first idea was to use “Sazore,” a simple anagram of the word “Azores.” Honestly, I didn’t like the sound, and I felt it was missing something; it didn’t fully capture the essence I was looking for.

That’s when I decided to add the “A” — not only for the first letter of my name, Ana. Thus, Sazorea was born: a combination that brings together the word “Azores” with the personal and symbolic “A.” For me, this name is more than just a word; it’s a union between my Azorean roots and my identity.

I wanted the essence of the Azores to be present not only in the formulas of our products but also in the brand name and throughout our visual identity, truly reflecting the soul and authenticity of the islands.

Leaving behind a stable career as a cardiology technician in Ireland was not easy. There were fears, doubts, and challenges. But the longing for my homeland and the desire to create something genuine and true gave me the courage to move forward.

Creating Sazorea was an act of love and commitment — to myself and to all women who seek to care for their skin with natural, effective products that tell a story.

When I think of Sazorea, I feel it is much more than a simple skincare brand. It is a dream born from the heart, a genuine purpose to bring the soul of the Azores to the world — a true “Azores in a bottle.”

And it is with much gratitude that I share this chapter of my life with you. Because longing, when well channeled, transforms into a powerful force — a brand with soul, meaning, and beauty.
