In a market where so many brands are searching for differentiation, there is one question I believe is fundamental:
What makes a brand truly impossible to replicate?
At SAZOREA, I found the answer in our roots.
SAZOREA was born in the Azores. And that is not simply a location on a map.
It is an identity.
It is the ocean that surrounds us. The strength of volcanic soil. The deep greens. The humidity in the air. The plants growing between the rocks. The hydrangeas that shape our landscape. The slower rhythm. The profound relationship with nature.
But above all, it is a way of being.
The Azores are not simply the setting of SAZOREA. They are part of its essence.
When I created the brand, I did not simply want to create cosmetics “inspired by the Azores.”
I wanted to do something more difficult: transform the identity of the islands into an experience.
In the formulation.
In the ingredients.
In the aesthetics.
In the language.
In the sensory experience.
In the way we tell our story.
That is why ingredients such as Cryptomeria japonica and Laurus azorica are not simply ingredients in a formula.
They belong to a territory.
They are a way of carrying a little piece of the Azores beyond the islands.
In a global world, authenticity has become one of a brand’s greatest assets.
Today, we can create almost any product anywhere.
We can communicate with any market.
We can sell almost anywhere in the world.
But there is something that cannot be manufactured:
origin.
And I believe the brands of the future will increasingly be valued for their ability to tell people where they come from — without trying to be something they are not.
At SAZOREA, we do not want to look like an international brand.
We want someone anywhere in the world to experience SAZOREA and feel that there is something there that could only have come from the Azores.
Our differentiation is not only in the product.
It is in the story behind it.
It is in the combination of science and nature.
Between knowledge and territory.
Between innovation and tradition.
Between a small region in the middle of the Atlantic and a global ambition.
And perhaps it is precisely this combination that makes SAZOREA different.
We are a brand from the Azores that wants to reach the world without leaving the Azores behind.
Because I believe that taking a brand international does not mean erasing its origins.
It means giving those origins the space to be discovered.
Building from the roots in order to grow.
This is an idea that has become central to my own journey as a founder.
Roots do not exist to hold us back.
They exist to give us structure.
To remind us who we are as we grow.
That is what I want for SAZOREA.
To grow, enter new markets, reach new people, and create new experiences — while always preserving what makes us unique.
The Azores are not only where we come from. They are what we carry with us.
And that is the identity we want to place, quite literally, in every bottle.
