Our history

The founder of SAZOREA

Hi! I am Catarina Nascimento Andrade, the Founder of SAZOREA. I am from Corvo Island, in the Azores, a unique natural sanctuary that is also a home to SAZOREA.

My desire to positively impact the world and society led me to graduate in Cardiac Physiology. After a few years working in hospitals in the Republic of Ireland, I began to feel unhappy, unmotivated and empty even though I knew that my purpose was to care for and change the lives of her patients. I needed to give my life the lightness I was used to and find my true happiness. In the midst of discomfort, stress and anxiety, I began to notice a drastic change in my skin. Once healthy, it begins to appear sensitive, unbalanced, dry and dull.

I started looking for the causes and realized that my unbalanced mental state, combined with some cosmetic ingredients, could be the cause of my skin issues. So I decided to begin studying cosmetics and learning how to create formulas that could take care of my skin’s health. I learned about each ingredient and its benefits. Without knowing it, in 2018, the first steps towards the creation of SAZOREA were being taken. After obtaining my certification as an organic formulator at Formula Botanica, a multi-award-winning school in the United Kingdom, and a postgraduate degree in Advanced Cosmetology and, later, a master’s degree in Cosmetic Science and Dermopharmacy, I knew I was on the right path towards my happy place.

While I was still working at the hospital, I decided to create my own brand. But some circumstances and difficulties made me give up shortly after. However, the sudden loss of my grandmother and, a year later, my grandfather, made me question my entire life again. Everything was too brief. These devastating events were the spark that rekindled my dormant passion, made me lose the fear of leaving my comfort zone and realize that life should be about who we want to be and following our intuition and our dreams.

I left everything behind, returned to the Azores and decided to follow my dream. Currently, I have an extraordinary team of experienced Portuguese chemists and cosmetologists who create SAZOREA formulas. These formulas are powered by Azorean nature and supported by science, to bring you the best skin care through products that respect and support your skin’s health.

SAZOREA is the result of nearly 4 years of study, research, development and testing but also of a lot of commitment and work. It is the materialization that it is possible to fight for our dreams, our happiness and our well-being. Therefore, I want you to deeply feel my story in each of our products. A luxury offering, in a close, empathetic, light and happy language.
